I just lurk on this thread and learn. I obviously have a lot more to lean as I can't understand Roach's comment:

"Lacking in domestic saving, the US then imports record surplus saving from abroad -- which, of course, requires it to run massive current account and trade deficits in order to attract the foreign capital."

When Laffer says the deficit is good and shows the strength of our economy and claims that they must sell goods cheap to us to get dollars to invest, I just consider the source. But Roach is a different story. Why do we have a need to run a current accounts deficit to attack investment?
