I think the problem is that you don't have a basic fundamental understanding that Christian's believe what they do by FAITH...personally speaking, I don't need undisputed physical "proof" in the scientific sense of the word...my faith leads my belief.
That said, just as you obviously have faith in your secular scientist (who are often proven wrong over the span of ages...and sometimes not), the person that believes that Christ and God are one in the same, and the other issues you bring up, does it by faith. If I have a heart attack and need a bypass, I may have faith that the Doctor can handle it. And I believe that the sun will rise over NY City tomorrow. There's nothing to prove that this will happen other than the fact that it has happened in the past. In this same "kind" of way, I believe that there is a God. I don't need "proof", I have faith brought on by the way my 2-year-old grandson says, "I love you Papa" (and the many other manifestations of God in the world).
The Bible gives us the foundation of how Christianity came about and provides some general guidelines (and an example, through Christ) on how to be a loving, caring, and kind person. It's not a "magic guide" to brainwash the intellectually weak, as it seems you're saying.
Anyway, that's my .02...and I think this is a public forum you're writing in, so to tell people to "butt-out" probably isn't appropriate here. |
