What kind of dumb bunnies think "scientific consensus" is relevant to anything at all?

Science is not consensus driven, politics are.

There was an overwhelming "scientific consensus" a few centuries ago that leeching was good for you, that there were three or four different "humors" which accounted for our health, that taking too many baths--more than one or two a year--was unhealthy, that the earth was flat, etc.

Makes me laugh.

Science is not about consensus, it is about the scientific method and verifiable causes and effects. In short, it is about the truth. You won't find truth in consensus, unless it is backed up with some very solid evidence. In the global warming arena, there is too much we don't yet understand unless, of course, we arrogantly assume that laymen have a handle on one of the most complex questions imaginable.

Back to the question--what kind of dumb bunnies think "scientific consensus" is relevant?

Dumb bunnies like Al Gore.
