In psychology Charters, they talk about task oriented people and ego oriented people.

I agree in the main with what you are saying, but I would maintain a person can be altruistic by having a thought out philosophy of life. Which is the reason I feel every person should have a personal philosophy of life they figure out on their own. I do not care what it is. But not some silly dogmatic script their parents or society laid on them. Or simply the hardware we are born with.

If a person's mind and philosophy are adequately developed, I believe they can make a totally altruistic decision.
