Looks like the left abandoned the global warming debate here - a good move.

But I never got a chance to reply to Wharf Rat's (I think) claim that the Little Ice Age and Medieval Warm Period which don't show up on the bogus hockey stick chart were merely regional climate fluctuations.

In fact that isn't true. William Quin studied the annual Nile floods since 600 AD. On average a weak flood occurs about one year out of every five.

From 622 - 999 there were 102 poor floods (27%)- about average. From 1000 - 1290 floods were poor only 8% of time; this was a warm wet period (the medieval warm period). From 1694-1899 35% of floods were poor. This was the peak of the arid Little Ice Age.

Nile flooding is a function of precipitation at the headwaters of the Nile in Ethiopia and the Uganda lake country. And precipitation in those areas is governed by the Southern Oscillation, which drives precipitation throughout the Indian Ocean and southern Pacific.
