A temporary occupation of Iraq, followed by a passing of authority to an elected government doesn't make for Iraq being a colony of the US.

Questions I have is how temporary is temporary? The "standing up, standing down" criteria is open to one's assessment but quantifying it with s specific date would give us the assurance that we do not have a arbitrary criteria. We had a criteria for going in, we need to have a criteria for coming out. We had a deadline for Saddam to comply before we go in, we need to have a deadline to come out. We had an objective to go in and when that objective is complete we need to pull out.

I think these a no-brainer criteria devoid of any politics, Rovian or Kerryesque. Not following what I mentioned above would certainly make folks like me question US' long term intentions of occupying Iraq and "make it a US colony."
