"to simply point out that: a trillion is what you get if you spend a million dollars a day ... for a million days."

It is ridiculous. It is a comparison made so someone can invision blowing 1 million a day and go "wow, what a waste this war is"

But it is not compared to our GDP or the cost of what doing nothing would result in. So it is an emotional appeal to the masses to make them come to the conclusion of "wow, this war is a waste of money".

And it tricked you, just as it was designed to do.;-)
