Uncertainty was not the best choice of words.
I was really talking about determinism.
In a determinate system cause and effect are linked by a precise relationship, the sort that Newton assumed (For each action there is an equal and opposite reaction, etc.)

A deterministic system, in the face of chaos, can be unpredictable, but it will always reach a certain conclusion. That kind of unpredictability is uncertain, but it is not random.
