Free country, so far anyway....It seems to me you're very testy today.

You betcha I'm testy. I can sure get testy when people make up things and assert them as my words or thoughts, particularly when they are very far afield from my words and thoughts and most particularly when I find them disreputable. Calling anyone a "cold blooded killer" before all the facts are in is disreputable. And if the Times presented his statement as "the truth" rather than as his assertion, then that would be disreputable, too.

So you find someplace in that transaction where I expressed anything to indicate my deference to Murtha or the NYT in this regard or I expect you to take it back. "You are free to" tap dance all you want and wander down any garden path of your choice and try to save face in all sorts of contorted ways but you are not free to defame any more than Murtha is. Normally I would let you or anyone else wiggle out with the likes of "Certainly didn't want, nor mean, to ruffle your feathers..." but not this time. I expect you to either provide evidence or take it back.

For the record, I do not approve of either imprudent and defamatory charges by congressmen or of the media misrepresenting them as truth.

<<Free country, so far anyway. You let Murtha and the unelected NYT speak for you, and I will let our elected President and House and Senate speak for me....>>
