You're not likely to see the parent lose control. It mostly happens behind closed doors. You're not likely to see the cracked ribs and fractures. You're not likely to see the belt bruises on the kid's butt. You probably have no idea which emergency rooms the kids in your neighborhood show up at.

You might get a peek at a few signs, symptoms, the occasional bruise, the kid that seems to have no spirit. Are you going to turn in the parent for child abuse when he yells at his son at the soccer game that he's a worthless piece of shit.

If you're a teacher and you pat a kid on the back for doing a good job and he pulls back in pain because of your touch on his back. Did you see the child abuse? Was there child abuse?
