I know we have been a free nation and society for 230 years without a flag burning ammendment and I also know that all totalitarian regimes ban freedom of expression and flag burning is definitely one of those freedoms that does not exist in a totalitarian society. I would prefer to keep thing the way they are, instead of bringing us one step closer to totalitarianism. A flag burning ban is just an appeal to the most jingoistic elements of society who are more concerned with nationalism and worship of the state than anything else. Not a good enough reason to take our freedom away. Some "free nations" don't even have a Constitution like ours. Did you know that Great Britain does not even have a Bill of Rights? They just govern based on traditions going back centuries. What is the case for banning flag burning (besides a purely emotional one)?
