RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP)--Israeli forces early Thursday arrested the deputy Palestinian prime minister, two other Cabinet ministers and four lawmakers, all from Hamas, in a raid on a complex of buildings in the West Bank city of Ramallah, Palestinian security officials said.
The deputy premier, Nasser Shaer, had called for release of the captured Israeli soldier, Cpl. Gilad Shaer, taken in a Hamas-led attack on an Israeli border post outside Gaza on Sunday, setting off an Israeli invasion.
Earlier, Israeli forces arrested Labor Minister Mohammed Barghouti.
The Israeli military refused to comment, saying the operation was still in progress.
