Hey, pollution is no friend of mine either... but are you prepared to give up your PC, your electric power, you car, your TV, and all the other modern conveniences that pollute?
This is your first post, to me, that actually brings up, for discussion, your thinking regarding the difficulties in getting pollution under control. Up to now, the ONLY thing that you have brought to the table is that pollution is not a significant problem.
I don't want to give up my car. But there are other solutions, such as cleaner burning, alternative fuel. To me, America made a huge mistake by not getting off oil, as it's major source of energy. We should have been off oil a long time ago. Instead, we have witnessed a significant growth in Islamic terrorism, and the backward, ignorant Arab/moslem cultures gaining an extraordinary amount of power and influence, all fueled by oil revenues. If we were off of oil, Iraq would just be a worthless desert wasteland, and the U.S. could afford to just let the moslems sit there and rot in their own backward, stupid, ignorant culture. We have also seen a significant increase in pollution and health problems, all caused by the use of oil for fuel, among other things.
Hell, Brazil’s reliance on oil imports has plummeted from 85 percent of its energy consumption in 1978 to 10 percent in 2002, due to it's use of ethanol, according to that country’s National Petroleum Agency. And this year, it will be nearly zero, Brazilian officials say.
If Brazil can do it, why can't the U.S.? More than that, I feel it has been a mortal sin that the U.S. has not had a pro-active energy policy in decades. What a crock of stupid, miscalculated, mindless crap! |
