<<Which is why I wouldn't entertain such a thought,...

Which thought wouldn't you entertain?>>

This one: ”just because there are alternative theories that they deserve equal consideration. "

I don’t think alternative theories deserve equal consideration simply because they have been proposed.

Lets compare two hypothesis.
1) the moon is made of rocks
2) the moon is made of green cheese.

I maintain that the first hypothesis has much more supporting evidence than the second. There are of course subtleties and variations such as what kind of cheese and what color of rocks, but the bulk of the evidence still favors the first hypothesis.

So it is with natural selection and it's variations. Yes, there are alternate hypothesis, but none has the weight of theory.

Lets compare these hypothesis:
1) The moon is made of rocks.
2) Lunar effects and Folklore about the moon have effected some human decision making such as mating rituals, and possibly battle strategies, etc. to take place.
3) The moon effects the tides of the Earth, which may provide evidence to organic disturbances and even help to explain some effects on human chemistry during these swings.
4) Human beings communicate about the importance of the moon as a physical member of our solar system, as well as it’s symbolic values often used in culture, especially literature; both have an effect on the evolution of society and culture.
5. Etc.

I maintain that comparing two hypothesis where one is demonstrably false and the other is supported by evidence does not establish the other as an all encompassing truth that explains everything in the universe, nor does it eliminate hypothesis that has plausibility.
