"Everyone benefits from having a stable country."

Probably doesn't make a huge difference to the inner city poor.

"Everyone also benefits if we went back to Kennedy's original idea of"

Instead we have Cheney's "I had other priorities".

"When 80% of the country feels entitled to what 20% of the country already has"

It depends. There was a time when only the top 20% or so could depend on living past 30. That has changed.

But the article wasn't a call for redistibuting wealth. It does point out the huge problem of income disparity and the negative impact it has. Again, I encourage you to travel in Europe and compare the cities to ours. In Europe the middle class is, percentage-wise, significantly larger than in the US. It makes a huge difference in society.
