They could first have asked for international support, at least to take advantage of international "goodwill" that we had at the time. We could have insisted that the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan stay out of it and we could have put 150k troops on the ground to secure the country on our own with the help of international troops.

Oh geezus.. everyone wants to be an "arm-chair general" and use their "20/20 hindsight"...

Can you tell me how we would sustain 150K US troops in Afghanistan? We practically fly in everything that sustains the current operations there as it is.

And how long would if have taken to create the military infrastructure and logistical tail necessary to support them, even if Pakistan would agree to provide full access to their ports?

Talk about incompetence...

Be realistic...
