i bet a co worker a case of scotch, johnny walker red, that i could quit smoking longer than him. he started back smoking after six months.. i remember having one cig to light some fireworks off for the kids after quitting for a year and next day buying a pack of cigs. no way was i going back. i thanked him for the bet and couldn't accept the scotch the bet itself was the gift. I was too cheap to buy a case of scotch and it motivated me enough to not have that one cig. After six months what keep me away from a cig was the memory of having just one would set me off again.

Booze on the other hand was ten times worse but then i had thirty years of addiction. It has been about twenty years since i kissed that one good bye too.
