Good points... The battery on the original unit wouldn't charge, so first they sent a new battery, and when that also wouldn't charge, they had to send a new unit.

Another issue is their manual. I understand they are trying to keep it very simple, but they left out critical info. With the scheduler, you program the cleaning times on the remote, and then press a button to download the information to the unit and the virtual walls (VERY nifty). What they don't tell you is that the unit can't be within 5 feet of the charging base or it won't download. I would guess that 99.9% of people (I'm a good example) wouldn't make this assumption.

So it took another phone call to their (very helpful and knowledgeable) customer service, which represents added cost and customer irritation. All they needed was one sentence in the manual.

On the customer referrals... the Roomba is very cool and you just can't help showing it to friends that visit. So I think that will be a big plus for them. A negative is that the unit is pretty expensive which limits the size of their market.
