NYSE Group Will Increase Fees for Brokers Beginning in August
June 30 (Bloomberg) -- NYSE Group Inc., owner of the world's largest stock market, said it will raise transaction fees at the New York Stock Exchange starting in August to benefit from increased trading.

NYSE Group will raise by 25 percent the maximum fee it collects from brokers for executing trading at the NYSE to $750,000 a month, the exchange said in a statement. A cap that limited fees to 2 percent of a broker's total commissions will be scrapped.

The exchange will also institute a fixed rate of 2.5 cents per hundred shares, instead of charging fees that vary with the size of trades. The exchange said it won't charge specialists for transactions of exchange-traded funds.

The new fees, filed today with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, will be effective Aug. 1, the NYSE said.
