Corruption Perception Index

Transparency International " claims that the CPI 2005 draws on "16 different polls and surveys from 10 independent institutions… The institutions who provided data for the CPI 2005 are: Columbia University, Economist Intelligence Unit, Freedom House, Information International, International Institute for Management Development, Merchant International Group, Political and Economic Risk Consultancy, United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, World Economic Forum and World Markets Research Centre."

China is not listed, presumably for lack of information sufficient to do a ranking, damning in itself.

The world graphic is helpful, but reflects only corruption within the country ranked, i.e. does not include their businesses' complicity wih corruption elsewhere. Outside the developed world, corruption has been better managed by GSM vendors than CDMA vendors, partly because 2GSM vendors had plenty of cash early on.
