6/30/06 Update
Some pre-July 4th fireworks yesterday and today rocketed the Nasdaq Biotech Index to a gain for the week. And, at the close, the NBI was off -6.0% YTD vs. -8.75% YTD at its 6/23/06 close. The median for all 40 Charity portfolios also burst upward and as of the 6/30/06 close is down -3.14% YTD vs. -6.45% YTD the prior week. No doubt, biotech prices were "artificially" influenced by the Russell Index reconstitution and end of quarter window-dressing. So, some gains (and losses) could well be reversed next week.
RKRW's portfolio had a great week and he's still our leader with a YTD gain of 30.3%. But there's a new No. 2, with CYRAN's portfolio, now up 20.4% YTD, supplanting Wilder's portfolio in the runner up spot.
As of their 6/30 close, 14 of the 40 Charity portfolios were in positive territory YTD. And, YTD, 22 of the 40 are outperforming the Nasdaq Biotech Index.
Have a safe and fun Independence Day everybody!
