It's true, 9-11 happened because of the US military secretly leaving behind a base in Saudi Arabia after the Gulf War. Osama spoke about that as the main reason for Jihad against the US. He saw it as an occupation of their holy land. Very few people believed Osama's claim that the US wanted to occupy the "holy" Arab lands and steal their oil, now now Bush has played right into Osama's predictions, making him look like a prophet in the Arab world.

Also, the Bush claim "we're fighting them there so we don't have to fight them here" is completel BS. Our occupation there has created thousands of new terrorist recruits who would not even be terrorists otherwise. And how many have we killed in three years in Iraq? Maybe not as many as we've created.

The AL Qaida strategy in Iraq is hard to figure out, but they did not arrive in Iraq until after Bush said "Bring it on!". Now that some of them are there they seem to be trying to start a civil war. Though they also seem to be somehow allied with the Sunnis. Whatever they're doing, it's effective because they're keeping the most powerful army in the world tied down in a quagmire where they don't want to be and don't belong. Strategically, Bush-Cheney have already lost this war. If you can call it a war.
