I just don't understand these right-wingers who have their panties in a bunch over freedom of the press.

We live in a Democracy.

How is it possible to make intelligent decisions regarding elected officials if we don't actually know what they are up to?

Sure Bush (and especially Cheney) would love to be able to work in secret because then it wouldn't be so obvious how "in over the head" he is. Bush is the President - he should be watched closely and his actions debated - it's called Democracy. I am quite sure Cheney would love to do away with elections and things like the press all together so that he could run things the way he knows they ought to be run without the bother of being acountable.

This fuss over the government tracking financial transactions is bogus anyway. I already assumed they were doing that and I'm sure most Al Quadia types thought as much too or figured it out soon after any of them got busted. My understanding is they switched to personal couriers years ago.

But I'm amazed how many freedoms some people seem ready to give up in the pursuit of "freedom in Iraq".

What make the USA great are things like democracy, freedom of the press, The Bill of Rights and the Constitution.

Remember the press is controlled in places like China and Saddam's Iraq. Why would anyone want to import that sort of nonsense even in the name of the big “C in C” and his big never ending "War on Terror"?
