I don't know where you get your hedonics crap, and why you think it has anything to do with comparing like quantities and inflation. There is nothing wrong with seeking pleasure in life.

My point is: when comparing costs of things, you must compare like quantities (values). Sure, five years ago you could have bought a much better computer than you did, but you would have had to spend a lot more money then than you would now for the same qualities. Or ... you could buy one now with the same qualities as you bought five years ago (though you would probably have to either buy it at a pawn shop or a junk shop) and you would pay a lot less than if you had bought it five years ago. Good luck in finding repair parts for it, though.

Better yet, just keep your old computer and don't buy a new one. In that way, the cost of things, and inflation, wont matter to you one iota. That's what the hippie dippies do. Then they sit around and bitch about the quality of life.
