The point of Lindy's post was that Murdoch directed Fox to come up with whatever amouont FIFA was demanding to provide the feed to the troops.

Indeed, that was the main point, and a good news it was. It's a shame the author felt he needed to embellish it with a gratuitous swipe to arouse the choir. I reacted to the gratuitous swipe, consistent with one of the thread's recent themes and one of my hobby horses, dismissed by you as a red herring, but important to those of us who like our messages tight and logical and objective, not inflammatory.

The actual point of the piece, which you and I and Randy Rogers, too, all clearly recognized, stood on its own just fine and needed no enhancement from me. It was the distraction he inserted that begged for comment.
