Yes, Bush-Rove smeared Anne Richards as an alcoholic lesbian. She is no lesbian, though she had admitted drinking problems. Bush was also a heavy drinker. These smears are always perped by surrogates, never by the candidate himself. So Rove would organize a team of zealots who would do push-polls, send out anonymous leaflets and otherwise start the whisper campaign. So that people finally say.

"Hey did you know Anne Richards is a lesbo? Maybe that's why she ain't married".

That's how Bush got into power. That and tons of money from Enron, Bectel, Big Oil etc.
