Hi Sid,
Just want to keep you honest here...

1996 report, P.14: "We began to build the 275 horsepower Ballard Fuel Cell Engines for three commercial prototype transit buses scheduled for delivery to the CTA in the second quarter of 1997. This is about six months later than originally planned..."
When I last checked, September did not fall in the second quarter.

I noticed this too, and frankly it did cause me some concern - although not major, it still looked like a missed milestone. Subsequent investigation revealed that the Chicago Transit Authority had in fact *requested* the delay in shipment. Perhaps Ballard was behind anyway, I don't know.

3. ERC - three years, and they should be profitable right away. Ballard - eight years before cars are introduced, and maybe 10 or 12 before the first black ink. Big edge for ERC.

Sid, you are confused again, and comparing apples to oranges. Cars are not Ballard's first nor their only source of FC revenues. By their own statement, revenues will come from buses and stationary years before cars. According to Paul Lancaster (phone call Sept. 22) they expect break-even/profitability by 2001. He also said stationary power will be in commercial production in 2000. (He reads this SI thread from time to time, and is aware of your opinion that BLD's stationary power is not viable. He also says you are dead wrong.)

Garth.
