Included in the over $6 trillion dollars transferred and recorded by Swift are transactions made by Americans. Collecting records on Americans without a warrant is illegal search and seizure.

Yes.. just like your phone conversations to overseas numbers have been subject to monitoring, the same goes for SWIFT transactions.

But I looked in that article and didn't see any mention of tracking ALL SWIFT transactions, even those not associated with US citizens.

I think that's where the controversy lies. The alleged program is accused of involving more than just American transactions.

And thus, the sensitivity of the program and how it would equate to unmasking a classified intelligence operation involving signals or human intelligence.

What will be next? Will the NYT decide to reveal "false flag" operations such as the ones that MI6 used to uncover nuclear proliferation in Pakistan several years ago (and eventually uncovered that one of Pakistan's premier nuclear scientists, Khan, was selling nuclear secrets to Iran, Libya, and N. Korea).

Just how much "need to know" do you think is necessary on the part of the American people with regard to classified operations in fighting this war?

Should we send formal notices to Al Qai'da and other terrorist organization/states prior to commencing such operations?
