Why, Lindy? Why did the non-participants say nothing even though they knew about the plan in advance, and knew afterwards that it was carried out? Are they just "bad apples"? Yes. And your comparison to Mai Lai show just how "over the moon" you have become. Silence about rape and killings by people in a group is quite common. Does that mean approval of it? No. Is it an uncommon occurance? Not really. Just take a look at the "blue wall" that exists in PD's all over the world. You have become overwrought on the "torture" subject, IMO.
