Hawk...The military gave them the most efficient method to take out the Taliban Regime and they went with it without considering the after affects.

Just because they used the N. Alliance to expedite things didn't mean they couldn't have moved a sufficient American force in to "secure" the country and lessen the eventual power those same "warlords" would eventually hold.

A wise administration should consider ALL the geopolitical ramifications involved in going to war, not just the quick and easy military objectives.

Even if they had done "nothing" till spring do you think things would have turned out worse? Oh..yeah, that might have allowed Osama, his right hand, and the leader of the Taliban to escape....we wouldn't have wanted that....

As far as Saddam...even as our tanks were rolling toward Baghdad he was still more worried about the Shiites!! I didn't have to go to West Point to know that if Saddam had put his Republican Guard and Fahajadeen into population centers like Baghdad and Basra and told them to fight a guerilla war from the getgo we would have been in a very difficult position.

And ISN'T it true that the military guys that actually WENT to West Point were telling Bush that he needed to go in there with "overwhelming" force if he wanted to avoid the breakdowns in security that have helped lead to this "quagmire" that we seem to have gotten into?
