But I also find myself just utterly shocked anymore in regards to the prices I'm paying not just for essentials, but especially for events and activities I enjoy, Over on slashdot many gamers are complaining how expensive games have become over the past decade while the aggregate quality and innovation seems headed into the toilet. I was holding off on posting this story but your xanga post renews my inspiration. I was sitting in a tokyo steak house restaurant in cocoa beach fl after they scrubbed the launch. Prices for a chicken/shrimp combo were 19 dollars a plate!! Egads!! Just a few years ago it was only 11 dollars. My blood pressure was already boiling from the 5 hours of stop and go traffic I had battled to get to the restaurant and the 2 hour wait to get a seat and everyone turning off the news so they could watch the daytona 400. Some family with two 16 year old girls sat at the table. The daughters incessantly complained they had to wait, the food sucked, the restaurant sucked, that daddy was a dork and momma was a ditz. (I never would say that about my parents to thier face in public for all to hear - hehe) The restaurant was run by an asian grandma who seemed to command respect from her children working the restaurant - something little princesses will probably never give to anyone. Half way into the ginger salad the 16 year old princesses threw thier onion soup and salad bowls at each other and splashed some soup on me and 2 other people at the table - my temper had it. I could tolerate that sillyness from a 10 year old perhaps - but not two 16 year olds. In Mogambo Guru style I jumped up and looked at these 2 god's gift to mankind and said WTF? If I acted like you 2 when I was your age my parents would have taken me home and not let me eat for a week and put me on restriction if they didn't kick me out of the house - you are 16 years old acting 10!! We have to suffer your immaturity because no one is willing to MAKE YOU MIND! Their jaws dropped and they looked at me with a sense of shock that let me know NO ONE has ever talked to them in that tone EVER. Oh that did it! Daddy was already pissed his man wasn't winning in the daytona 400 and he said who am I to tell his daughters that - he was just looking for someone to unload on! Our respective politeness descended from that point - hehe. Anyways some GI raping a middle eastern woman had come on the news right before the race and I told this guy I wonder what that guy over in the middle east thinks that your son rapes his sister so you can worship a sport that wastes gas as a religion - I had to get out of there then - had done offended too many nascar guys - like the time I offended all the basketball guys in a durham sports bar. I have found the restaurants where meals are about 60 bucks or higher a plate seem to finally be expensive enough to get away from the children with no table manners. was thinking of going to Bend, Oregon this week, but canceled because rooms at Sun River resort were $230 a night. Our local walmart near clearwater used to allow the poor guys like me to sleep in thier parking lot for several days - sometimes even several weeks if you were a good customer - that policy was just changed 2 weeks ago - you will be towed now if you stay in the parking lot over 10 hours according to the manager. If you park anywhere else the police make you move. From my earliest days in germany touring europe in a VW van til last year I have almost always been able to find FREE camping with EASE.
