According to IBD in July 5th edition, China is now the number 4 world economy based on gross national income, which smooths out currency fluctuations. China climbs over the UK and now trails the US, Japan, and Germany. China's GNI is at $2.2638 Trillion. Data from the World Bank.

Why this stat here? Well, I thought that it was interesting as Bernanke was quoted saying a month or two ago that China was an emerging economy that may have inflationery influence over the US. Well, perhaps the UK is even more an "emerging" market now that grand old England is number 5.
