Just back from an afternoon in the City Park.

It is an old fashioned 4th of July celebration, with vendors, food, music, family and friends.

The main attraction was a band named "Pocket Full of Rocks," and they were excellent. They're a Christian band from Texas. Guess we don't have any ACLU types here who thought to try to shut down the performance because it was in a City Park.

Before the final song, they asked the audience to stand, and the singer commented that regardless of our differences, it is wonderful to live in a country like the United States where we're free to get together, express our views and celebrate Independence Day together.

Then the band led the audience in singing "America the Beautiful.

Brought tears to my eyes.
