You've got ~5.5 million Israelis who also think it should be, and 200 million neighboring non-Israelis and probably 1 million Arab Israelis who think it shouldn't. Don't those 201 million "no's" trump you and the 5.5 million "yays"? In a democratic system they certainly would.
