I believe that we are at war for the survival of our culture. This peril is every bit as great as was the peril we faced during the World Wars and from different continental powers in the 18th and 19th century. The steps our government are taking to fight this unconventional war are certainly far less onerous than those Lincoln took when he felt the preservation of the union as in jeopardy. Or, those FDR took to insure our survival during WW II.

I think this is where we have our biggest disagreement. The war on terror and Al Qaeda pales in comparison to either the Civil War or WWII.

The war in Iraq was an elective war. It's been sold as part of the battle on Al Qaeda, but in reality it was not strike against Al Qaeda.

I disagree with the way Bush handled the response. I am in sorrow for the loss of blood. I am disappointed by the massive spending on the war. I'm deeply disturbed by what I see as a setback in the war on terror. Iraq was a mistake.
