I believe if the New Jersey people discharge most of the 8000 people hired by McGreevey, it will be a start. I still feel they are short changed by the lack of prosecution in a case where evidence (tape recorded) was substantial enough for prosecution.

I hope nobody really believes that he left because he was gay or that his sexual preference wasn't known far and wide. Much farther than the borders of the state in which he governed. Things like that get around quickly.

In every state and smaller and of course federal agencies there is a ton of fat. They should pay more for quality and less for quantity. There are agencies that can be wiped out. Departments with duplicate functions. Departments with simply negative functions. Problem is they all have God Father politicians. They will eventually be wiped out as people discover what and where they are.

A typical waste is in an area in which you have experience. US Attorney... Why on earth they enjoy paying for kids fresh from law school only to loose them once they get experience due to lack of a decent salary. I consider this the most frustrating experience. If they were paid enough to stay, so much would be saved by avoiding the loss of law suits, convictions, fines and horrifying consent decrees.
