What is homeopathy in Arizona?
azcentral.com

German physician Dr. Samuel B. Hahneman founded classical homeopathic medicine more than 200 years ago. Homeopaths believe in the concept of "like cures like," and they use very dilute amounts of substances known to cause certain symptoms to treat those same symptoms. For example, homeopaths might take the chemical in an onion that causes a person to cry and their nose to run and dilute it to use as an antihistamine to reverse those symptoms. Zicam is a popular and widely available homeopathic cold remedy.

Skeptics in the medical community dismiss any benefit to patients from homeopathic remedies as a placebo effect, where patients improve simply because they believe they will get better.

Arizona's homeopathic medical license allows a much wider scope of practice than just "classical" homeopathy. Licensed homeopaths can practice more invasive therapies such as acupuncture, chelation (an intravenous treatment to remove heavy metals from the blood), therapeutic massage and electro-dermal diagnosis (a technique that electronically probes a patient's skin to diagnose allergies, parasites and even cancer). Homeopaths can also prescribe drugs and perform minor surgery.

Three states license homeopaths: Arizona, Nevada and Connecticut. Arizona allows the widest range of treatments under the license.
