Hawk...I'm aware of all that, but the point IS we are fighting a "public relations" war as well as a war against an insurgency.

You can't just catch or kill all the guys on a deck of cards and Al Zaquayi and think you're gaining ground in a war of ideologies.

I doubt that the damage that has already been done can be corrected for many many years, but it might be a start if we tried to treat our prisoners like they were actual people.

"information had been developed that justified it" Are you sure about that? What about the Egyptian fella that was held and rendered to another country for torture simply because his name was confused with another's?

I'm not a "bleeding heart" rooting for the jihadists, but I am a pragmatic sort that thinks the intent of our government should be to "increase" our security and NOT the recruiting of future jihadists that will live only for the chance to kill us.
