I am in despair about the lack of any rational control over growth. I visit Arizona several times a year, and the see the orange groves and cotton fields being converted to subdivisions and Walmart Supercenters. We are basically in a situation where people expect infinite growth in a finite system. That implies to me that humans will eventually experience the same thing that bacteria do when they use up the agar in a Petri dish.
