It really is as simple as that NL. A MLK, Ghandi or Mandela based movement would have brought them a better outcome than all this violence does and even more important that outcome would have happened decades ago and the country of Palestine might very well be a successful nation at this time.

Absolutely. There is something in Islamic culture, which glorifies violence, and denigrates peace. They are into Martyrs, not Saints. They'ed be embarrassed by Saints. (Not that some Saints weren't Martyrs...) A Pal Ghandi would shame the entire Muslim world IMO, but any leader who can achieve something in battle, well, he's just the cats meow. What fools.

However, I do think the West should acknowledge that issue, and use better methods to accomplish our goals. If we had built a statue in Baghdad to the Iraqi soldiers & citizens killed in our last invasion (to replace Saddam's statue)acknowledging their sacrifice against what many saw as a foreign force, even though our intent was to help, I bet we would have had a very different outcome. Bush & Rummy have shown total stupidity in understanding such issues. Too bad.
