If your daughter had problems with science & math at one level but not at another level, I believe it is because there is a lack of continuity in the curriculum & teaching methods.

This is only a guess. I had a similar experience as an adult.

What will I do when I volunteer? I don't know. No one has told me.

In general, I will spend some time in a public school with a team from the university who will try to improve student's knowledge of science. The computer will be their vehicle.

It takes time to work out the logisitcs so I'm unsure when the project or projects will begin.

I believe the projects will be useful because, at the very least, the kids will learn, if it is only a little, about the manipulation of an abstract concept. They should also learn a little about the interpretation of data. That is, don't believe everything you read because there are always more questions that you have to ask.

These are my opinions only. So they are not worth very much! Still, I believe that if I had had this experience as a young student then I would have been interested in science, math & computers.
