KYOTO, Japan, July 7, 2006 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nidec Sankyo Corporation (the ``Company'') (Tokyo:7757.T), one of the listed subsidiaries of Nidec Corporation (NYSE:NJ), will establish a new factory in Taiwan to manufacture transfer robots handling liquid-crystal-display (LCD) glass substrates. The new factory will be built within the precincts of Nidec Sankyo Taiwan Corporation as the Company's first overseas base to produce industrial robots. The details are as follows.
Outline of the New Factory

1. Location: No.6 South 7th Road K.E.P.Z. Kaohsiung, Taiwan
2. Ground floor space: 2,000 sq.m.
3. Total Investment: Yen 300 million
4. Line of business: Manufacture of transfer robots for the 8th
generation LCD-panels and smaller-size
production-line robots.
5. Construction Schedule:
1) Groundbreaking: August 2006
2) Completion: Late December 2006
3) Start of operation: January 2007

Purpose of the New Factory

The Company is the worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and marketing of LCD-glass-substrate transfer robots. The production of these robots has been undertaken by the Company's Japan-based branch located in Ina City, Nagano, which had its third plant completed in FY2004 and has one in the making with production launch slated for this December.

The Company eyes Taiwan, where the world's major LSD panel makers are concentrated, as the ideal location for its transfer robot production and expects the new factory to expand opportunities in close proximity to the Company's existing and potential Taiwan-based customers. The new factory also plans to extend into the market for small-sized LCD-panel transfer robots.
