OT: BK, I know your cynical side enjoys this kind of thing so I'll post it. I finally opened my homeowners renewal policy from AIG and found an over 20% increase in premium. They had "switched" me to a different "preferred" division and thus eliminated the multi-policy discount I had. The new rate was actually comparable to my old one, the elimination of the discount accounted for the increase. When I called AIG, the customer service person told me they could offer or cancel discounts at any time and got mad at me when I asked her how they expected to keep my business (she did not offer a single reason to stay). When I called my servicing agent he simply moved me to another company. He has been moving AIG business to this other company all year as renewals come up. He actually referred to it as a "project" his office has been working on and had sent me a letter asking me to call.
