Chicago Bridge Buys Gulf Coast Shop biz.yahoo.com Friday July 7, 10:10 am ET Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. Acquires Texas Fabrication Shop With Deep Water Access THE WOODLANDS, Texas (AP) -- Specialty engineering and construction company Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. NV said Friday that it has bought a fabrication shop in Beaumont, Texas, with deep water access to the Gulf of Mexico. Financial details were not disclosed. Chicago Bridge said the new facility will increase its capacity to build and transport large-scale process modules, shop-built vessels and large steel plate subassemblies. The shop's truck, rail and deep water access will allow it to ship modules throughout the country and the world. The shop will employ between 300 and 500 workers, some of whom will move from the company's facility in Liberty, Texas.
