Someone correct me here if I'm wrong, but I think the answer to this question is that JTS is a case in point. If I'm not mistaken, the whole reason JTS did an LBO of Atari (in addition to taking them public) was for the loss carryforwards that it offered. I think it'll be a while before we see some company stepping up to do the same with JTS.
