The image is shattered since these same guys collect large contributions from Indian gambling interests. If they want to take a moral stand against gambling they could influence their home states to abandon lotteries. One of the costs of gambling is it has turned EVERY SINGLE politician into transparent hypocrites of the worst stripe. The symbolism of trying to take a moral stand against gambling is more important than the policy actually working.
