Truff and GM,
Thanks for the input. Truff, your's is particularly reassuring. Like FIDO, I have never done options. They scare me worse than my portfolio being 25-50% IOM. But if you have so much in IOM options, that really indicates how strongly you feel Nomai is no threat.
GM:
> HP was sued by Nu-Kote for altering their design. That made Nu-Kote replacement cartridges incompatible with HP printers. Don't know what happened with that suit. It would be worthwhile to study THAT. <
Wow! For changing their design. I guess they think that once a company designs something, they must keep that design until everyone who makes a cheap knockoff says it's OK to change. Talk about entitlement mentality. Just goes to show, you don't need a good case to file a lawsuit, you just need a hungry enough lawyer.
BTW, If you follow this link back, you'll see what comes of being the bearer of bad IOM news: techstocks.com . FTR, I am long APM 700 shares. It appears there are IOM longs, IOM bulls, IOManiacs, and now IOM Shiites. Infidels, doubters, ecumenicists, apostates and simple backsliders beware!
10 days ago, after completing that simple reflector experiment, I sat for a minute or so, amazed, looking for my mistake. Then I repeated the experiment over and over, tearing the materials off, and putting them on again. Then the fears started. I actually considered keeping it to myself. The stream of thought went something like this:
This is a zero-sum-game. If I tell what I know, it might actually influence the stock price before I can get out. If I decide to get out - don't lose your head. Wait, this is nothing - a reflector - who cares? No it is something. Potentially very dangerous. Don't tell! Must keep options open. No, IOM's too big, so zero sum doesn't apply here. I must share with SI. They share with me. Without them, my portfolio would be 1/2 what it is. But they might overreact or not want to hear it. OK some might, but most are adults looking for the truth - they will want to hear the bad with the good. Don't you expect the same of them? Don't you expect them to give you all the facts? Don't you OWE them the same?
I stopped somewhere around there and posted. I knew I would live to regret it. I knew some people would be unduly influenced to sell, myself included. Once you see your words in print here, they seem somehow more important. I knew I would look like another FUD purveyor, the very ilk I have despised and ridiculed on IOM threads for 9 months. It would be hard - I would be the villain to some people. I did it anyway, and I can honestly say it was out of a sense of obligation to no more than 10 of you IOM regulars, and you know who you are. I sold the 1000 I had acquired at 26 (due to the first round of the scare) after I posted (obviously, since I posted on Sunday) and paid an economic and emotional price for it. Would I go through it again? I would and will do it again, but only for those I consider friends. If I had received no support from anyone, just neutral posts and attacks, I don't think I could go through it again. There, that's the last apologia I'll ever do on the reflectors. Sorry it was so maudlin. |
