Diplomacy to me means you're going to trust kim jong-il.

Like I said, you guys weren't ready for prime time. Diplomacy is the art of trying to get what you want while giving up as little as possible. If you trust the other party, diplomacy is not nearly as important as when you don't trust them.

If diplomacy means getting China to take care of him, Bush is already trying that. The free Carter/Clinton nuclear reactors were a failed bribe and not what I consider diplomacy.

I do not want to comment about the stunt Carter pulled on Clinton. It is water under the bridge.

However, I will point out that that stunt kept jong-il quiet for over ten years. It wasn't until he got called part of the axis of evil by Bush that things got increasingly ugly. Calling a nation evil when you don't have a plan to deal with them, and effectively neutralize their 'badness' is not diplomacy.......its the hallmark of stupidity.
