However, I will point out that that stunt kept jong-il quiet for over ten years. It wasn't until he got called part of the axis of evil by Bush that things got increasingly ugly. Calling a nation evil when you don't have a plan to deal with them, and effectively neutralize their 'badness' is not diplomacy.......its the hallmark of stupidity. It wasnt' a stunt. The Clinton/Carter deal was broken before bush took office. The promise was to deliver 2 light water reactors...and the work had been basically slowed to a crawl/stopped by Clinton precisely because there were arguments over verification, human rights, among other disagreements...this before stupid took office. Then comes stupid and he starts shooting his mouth off right off the get go...evil dictator, axis of evil, pigmy dictator...you know, the real deep, intellectual diplomatic stuff. And then comes the piece de resistance, the invasion of the first "axis of evil" country, the weakest of the 3, the one "we could do"...now we are all about diplomacy with the other two, and the world is laughing.
