That's a pretty simplistic anti-globalization piece. Can you name a country that has successfully developed without "economic growth, factories, the growth of centralised distribution, supermarkets rather than local markets, agribusiness rather than agriculture and the globalised economy rather than the localised one"? I have been a lot of places and never seen one. The countries without them are still dumps.

That view was very popular in Africa in the 1960's. Until it failed utterly.

If the answer to our problems is to change the entire globe's economic development model, then it's parlor room chit chat. No one is going to change everything everywhere that everyone does, even if the model they put forward is preferable and workable, which is dubious in this guy's case, IMHO.
